Top seed Former National A Player and Former State Champion Arvind Shastri of Bangalore played Carokann defense with Sachin P S of Shimoga. Sachin displayed his theoretical skill till 22^nd move and blundered a pawn at 23^rd move. Experienced Shastri punished this blunder and won a game in 48 moves

Second seed Sriram Sarja of Shimoga playing the white side with Sridhar of Shimoga opted for queens gambit but shridar declined it. Shridhar played a advance pawn break in 8^th move. Experience Sriram Sarja took the advantage of it and defeated Shridhar in 36 moves.

Third seed Stany GA of Shimoga and Anand Swaroop SN of Mysore played Sicilian Pelican opening. Anand could not resist Stany’s Theoritical skill and lost in 34 moves

Fouth seed Vijay Keerthi K of Myosore playing in white side with Kishan Gangolli of Shimoga opted the irregular opening. In the 23^rd move Kishan Gangolli made inferior pawn move made him to loose the game in 58 moves.

A eleven year boy Mr. K S Pranav from Shimoga defeated Mr Gautam JK of Shimoga. Playing the Reti opening, Pranav gained the passer in the middle game. To stop the passer Goutam JK lost three pawn in a row and created the imbalance in the board. Pranav won the game in 60 moves.

Kum. Soumya Umesh Vaze of Shimoga lost to Gahan MG of Mangalore. Playing the irregular opening, soumya blundered in the middle game and lost in 56 moves

Former State Champion Vijendra Y G of Mysore gained opening advantage with Shreeshan S of Shimoga in Semi Slave opening. Vijendra won the game easily in 48 move.

Kum. Nisha N Patkar of Shimoga, and Mr Ravipraksh of LIC played the Sicilian Pelican variation. Nisha Patkar displayed the outstanding performance against well experienced and senior player. The game ended by three fold repetition at 26^th move.
